What a busy winter it’s been – almost like having a full-time job! But it’s all good, there will be some new blog posts coming soon. I want to share the planting plans for this year, and a restoration project I’ve been working on.
For now, I want to alert you to two presentations I will be doing in the next week.
Next Tuesday, March 12, at 5:00 pm I will be at the Atwood House in Chatham, speaking on “5 Projects to Make Your Home Landscape More Eco-Friendly”: As awareness of our environmental challenges increases, many people want to do their part by making their own backyards more eco-friendly, but don’t know how to get started. I will be sharing 5 concrete and manageable projects that homeowners can do this spring, with a focus on adding native plants to an existing landscape. I will provide plant recommendations and layouts, where applicable, for each project. This presentation is in-person only, and you can sign up at chathamhistoricalsociety.org.
Then on Saturday March 16, at 10 am, I will be doing a Zoom webinar sponsored by the Chatham Conservation Foundation, entitled “My Favorite Plants”. After gardening with native plants for 10 years, I have developed my own list of tried-and-true favorite plants that do well in my Chatham garden, for both sunny and shady conditions. I will share what plants have thrived and how I have used them, as well as what plants have been rabbit-resistant, and what plants I have tried and no longer bothers with. This webinar is free and you can register at ccfinc.org.
It seems that the CCF registration site says the Saturday presentation is fully booked – this is because of some limits of the software. However, we have a secret workaround – if you go to the registration page here and sign up for the waitlist, we will make sure you get the Zoom link for the webinar plus the plant list handout that goes with it. Hope to see you there!
